Anyone who is anyone in the boxing world knows what happened to Nick Blackwell this past Saturday, when he lost his British Title to Chris Eubank Jr. And anyone with a heart wishes Nick a speedy and full recovery. One of Blackwell’s domestic rivals Adam Etches has gone one further and set up a crowdfunding page for those who would like to give some money towards Nick for when he recovers. After hearing about what Adam had done, we got in contact with him and spoke with him about why he took this step to help his fellow boxer out

“Just to help Nick out. People don’t realise what a dangerous up & down sport it is. One minute Nick is in there thinking “I could have this and that” and the next minute tragedy happens and he’s most likely going to have his licence taken away from him and never box again. I just thought it would be nice to raise some money for him and give him something once he’s recovered.”

And this was all done out from this great respect that Boxers have for each other

“I don’t know him personally. I guess you can say he’s one of my rivals in the ring. You don’t wish what’s happened to him on anyone and like I said I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I don’t want any credit for setting this up for Nick. I’ve set it up out of respect for Nick. It’s fresh in everyone’s thoughts. It doesn’t have to be a lot at all, it could just be a pound. It all goes towards Nick once he recovers.”

Adam had one last thing he wanted to say to everyone who has and will give to the page

“A big thank you to everyone who has given so far and those who will. I set the target at £10,000 but the way it’s going we can get him more than that. It’s absolutely took off. Thank you all who have given”
